How To Scare Away Raccoons Living In My Attic

Wild Animal Removal Services

Chimney Animals: Animals living in a chimney are typically the result of having an uncapped chimney that is either near branches or on a home that is frequented with animals. Common situations for Michigan wildlife in chimneys is raccoons and raccoon mother with litters of babies denning in the spring, squirrels that have fallen down the chimney and are unable to climb back up, birds that have fallen down and are unable to fly up the chimney, chimney swifts which are able to fly out once reaching adult size, bat colonies roosting inside of the chimney and we have even encountered a duck that had fell into the chimney and sadly died.Animal removal from chimneys will vary in methods from animal to animal. Raccoons are usually either fished out by hand or if the correct time of the year they areevicted with a hormone treatment, squirrels can typically be scared into running up a rope that has been dropped down the chimney, birds that can not fly must be hand removed, and chimney swifts and bats must be removed with a one way valve once the young are able to fly.

Wildlife Under Stoop and Decks: Animals under decks and stoops in Michigan can create numerous incidents that can really be a problem. The worst problems that nuisance wildlife create under a deck or a stoop is skunks spraying, raccoons accumulating piles of feces and animals dying underneath, thus needing extraction. To clear up the difference between the two, typically a deck will be built over an existing stoop, so the animals living under the deck are actually living under the stoop unless the deck is very low to the ground and tightly enclosed. When a skunk is underneath and sprays, the concrete being porous as it is, will soak up the molecules drawing them into the home. Usually heat or moisture will activate these odors hence the reason they enhance when heat or air conditioning is turned on.Raccoon feces as mentioned earlier carries parasites that can be extremely harmful and even fatal to people and pets, but even more so children.

To clean the attic, I not only remove all of the waste by hand, I use special cleaners, including an enzyme-based cleaner that eliminates any biohazard organic waste from animals, including droppings and urine. I use the electric powered atomizer as shown in the below photo, which creates a fine mist that flows through the whole attic and gets every nook and cranny, for 100% coverage and cleanup. To protect myself against insulation fibers and animal biohazard, I wear a disposable Tyvek suit and I wear the respirator mask, as shown above. This fogging machine, also called an atomizer, sprays my cleaning solution in a fine mist that permeates the entire attic, and makes certain attic cleanup scenarios easy. In a case like this, in which the homeowner did not want total insulation replacement, the enzyme-based cleaner in the atomizer does a good job of breaking down and sanitizing the contaminated areas of the attic. If your attic has wildlife waste or animal poop, then this is one method that can kill harmful pathogens along with the odor. Homeowner's insurance will pay for attic cleanup and restoration in the case of raccoon damage, because of the potential health risks.

We are a full service wildlife removal company that is family-owned and operated. Every year, thousands of people in the Oakland, Wayne, Livingston and Macomb Counties are bothered by raccoons, squirrels, skunks, bats, birds and even groundhogs. If not taken care of quickly, the damage caused by many of these animals can cost hundreds of dollars. People have also become more aware of health issues associated with bats, skunks, raccoons, birds, etc. Our website serves to provide you with detailed information on these animals including their behavior, habitats, physical descriptions, reproduction information, lifespans, habits and more. We include pictures of the mature species, babies, sounds and even footprints so that you might identify with the pesky animal invading your space.

Attic Restoration: If wildlife has inhabited the attic of your home or building, attic restoration is an important part of a complete wildlife control solution. Attic restoration basically means restoring your attic to the good, clean condition it was in before wildlife decided to move in and make a mess of things. Animals in attics can cause the following problems: Lots of poop and urine in the insulation, Nesting material and food debris through the attic, Odor problems inside the home, Growth of mold on contaminated attic areas, Parasites, roundworm, and other pathogens, Pheromone scent that can attract new wildlife. So it's important to address these problems by cleaning, decontaminating, and restoring the attic to its original state. This is done through several steps. The proper training and equipment is required, such as a HEPA filter mask and biohazard suit, as seen to the right. Attic restoration can be quick and cheap, or intensive and expensive, depending on the amount that needs to be cleaned. Homeowner's insurance may cover the cost.

Rochester was served by two railroads in Addition to the Detroit United Railway into Royal Oak and Detroit. The Village of Rochester was made within Avon Township’s bounds. From 1895, the population of Rochester was 900. The village became the town of Rochester in 1967. Avon Township became the Town of Rochester Hills in 1984, after a court battle, in which miles were annexed by Rochester’s town Chapman Mill Pond, east of downtown, vanished to the Paint Creek when the dam broke throughout the flooding of 1946. The land is the website of the post office, Rochester Hills library, along with Olde Towne Road. Water Street, previously located at the border of the pond, stays by its own title a reminder of their pond’s prior presence.

The first settlers in what could eventually become the Graham household, Rochester, built a log cabin. The cottage was situated in which the Quik Pik and Penn Station shops now exist in the junction of Main and Second Street. The town was named just as many settlers into the region were from New York’s country.

How Do I Know If I Have A Groundhog

Bird Repellent Netting

If you are looking for a bat exterminator, you are likely seeking the wrong type of person. When you have bugs, mice or other small pests, an exterminator might be a dream come true. However, if you have a bat problem, you should instead be looking for a wildlife specialist or professional company that offers bat removal and exclusion instead of extermination. Even conservationists will tell you that killing bats is not an effective solution. Poisoning bats with pesticides is illegal, and there is no need to kill bats just to get them out of your home.

Bat exterminator companies can be found in some places, but they really aren't the best solution to anyone's bat problems. It is much better for you to find someone to remove and release the bats than to find someone that will kill them. Once you seal up your home and let bats know that they aren't welcome, you shouldn't have a problem with them trying to come back.

You removed the animals from the attic, but are you finished yet? Nuisance wildlife in your attic can create problems many homeowners never think of. These animals can carry ectoparasites, which after the wildlife host is evicted, may move inside the home looking for a new host—YOU! Bat bugs, mites, ticks and fleas are just some of the ectoparasites you need to be concerned about. Mice in the attic, bats in the attic or various other vistors are notorious for bringing these pests in. Ask our Wildlife Management Specialists to inspect your attic and treat for these critters, after your problem species is removed.

Many of Michigan's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Michigan's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.
