The History of Warren Michigan
Warren Michigan is located in the state of Michigan in the United States. It can be found in the Macomb County region.
Before the area was named Warren, it was then known as Beebe’s Corners. Beebe’s Corners was developed during the year 1830 at the end of Chicago and Mound Roads. A man named Charles Groesbeck was the first person to reside in the area.
The township of Warren came into existence during 1837. However, it first ran under the name Hickory. During April 1838, the area was given another name, Aba. It was soon after this that the area was named Warren.
It has been said the name Warren also named after a man named Joseph Warren. He was born in 1741, and died in 1775. He died during the Battle of Bunker Hill.
During the 1800’s two creeks called the Bear Creek, and The Red Run grew bigger and bigger. They ran through the township of Warren. From there, it went into a river called the Clinton River. Finally, from the Clinton River, it went into Lake St. Clair.
Warren officially became a city in 1936. Between the years 1950 and 1960, the population of the region grew considerably. This was because of the after math of World War Two when there was a baby boom.
Since those times, the population of Warren began to greatly decline. This was because there was an increase of violent crime. Because of this, Warren was the seventh in ranking of becoming one of the most unhappiest of cities to live in in the whole of the United States.
Warren Michigan has had eight mayors. The mayor at this point in time is Mr James Fouts. Past mayors have included: Bill Shaw, James Randlett, Louis Kelsey and Mark Steenbergh.
